Factory Supply Anhydrous Calcium Nitrate No Crystal Water, High Nitrate is a slightly pale yellowish white powder. It is highly soluble in water and may ignite or explode upon contact with organic substances or sulfuric acid. Compared to calcium nitrate tetrahydrate, it overcomes the issue of hygroscopicity when exposed to air, making it easier to store and transport.
Applications:
In addition to its use as a fertilizer, calcium nitrate is also recommended as a component in refrigeration brines and latex coagulation baths.
It is also used as a starting material in the production of other calcium compounds or calcium-containing materials, such as calcium phosphate, calcium silicate nanocrystals, hydroxyapatite fibers, and conductive ceramic materials.
Calcium nitrate is also utilized in the manufacturing of pyrotechnic products (e.g., emulsion explosives), bone implants, and radio tubes in the electronics industry.
Another application is in wastewater systems, where it is added to prevent the formation of hydrogen sulfide (H₂S).
