In organic synthesis, it is widely used as a reagent for alkylation and arylation reactions of carbon, sulfur, nitrogen and oxygen centers. It is also used in aldol condensation, Michael reaction, acylation, Wittig reaction, Knoevenagel Company reaction, elimination reaction, epoxy ring-opening, cycling, metal-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction, hydration and a variety of reactions
Stability of Potassium carbonate
It is very easy to deliquesce in the air and can be used as a desiccant to absorb CO2 and produce potassium bicarbonate.
Soluble in water, its aqueous solution is alkaline. Insoluble in ethanol and ethers.
It has strong hygrometric property, easy to caking, long-term contact with the air, easy to absorb carbon dioxide into potassium bicarbonate.
And its hydrate has three kinds of monohydrate salt, dihydrate salt and trihydrate salt.
It reacts with chlorine gas to form potassium chloride, and with sulfur dioxide to form potassium pyrosulfate.
When barium sulfate is reversed for 5 min at 600℃, 22.5% potassium sulfate is formed. If barium sulfate is replaced by lead sulfate, 40.9% potassium sulfate is formed.
Staff should take good protection, if accidentally touch the eyes, should immediately flush with plenty of running water.
The working environment should have good ventilation conditions.

If inhaled
After inhalation: Quickly remove from scene to fresh air. Keep your airway clear. Give oxygen when breathing is difficult. When breathing stops, give artificial respiration immediately. Go to a doctor
In case of skin contact
In case of skin contact: Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Rinse skin with water/ shower.
In case of eye contact
After eye contact: rinse out with plenty of water. Call in ophthalmologist. Remove contact lenses.
If swallowed
After swallowing: immediately make victim drink water (two glasses at most). Consult a physician.
