Description:
Agriculture fertilizer Potassium Carbonate is white crystalline powder. It is odorless, but with a strong alkali smell.
Density 2.428g/cm3. Melting point 891℃. Decomposition at boiling point.
Soluble in water. Insoluble in ethanol, acetone and ether. The aqueous solution is alkaline.
It is trong hygroscopic, if exposed to the air it will become potassium bicarbonate by absorbing CO2 and water. So it must be well sealed and avoid moisture.
Applications
1. Potassium Carbonate can be used in the production of optical glass to improve the transparency, strength and refractive coefficient of glass.
2. As desiccant in chemical experiments. However, it cannot be used as a desiccant for acids, phenols or other acidic substances
3. It is used to produce kinescope glass, and can be used in decarbonization production of of fertilizer, also be used in the production of potassium salt.
4. In food, it can be used as leavening agent and also can inhibit noodles sourness.
5. As potassium fertilizer in agriculture, to improve crops growth and strengthen the ability to resist diseases, insects and natural disasters of crops.
