Description:

Potassium nitrate, also named Nitrate of Potash is a chemical compound with a sharp, salty, bitter taste and the chemical formula KNO3.It is an ionic salt of potassium ions K⁺ and nitrate ions NO₃⁻,therefore is an alkali metal nitrate. It occurs in nature as a mineral, niter. It is a source of nitrogen, and nitrogen was named after niter. It has industrial grade and agricultural grade.

Character: Colorless transparent prismatic or white particles or crystalline powder. Spicy, salty and cool. Microdeliquescence, less deliquescence than sodium nitrate

Solubility: easily soluble in water, insoluble in absolute ethanol and ether. When dissolved in water, heat is absorbed and the solution temperature is reduced.

Applications:

As the raw material to produce black powder, such as mine powder, fuse, firecrackers.
It can be used in fireworks to produce purple sparks.
In the ceramic industry, it is used to make enamel colorants.
Used as a compound fertilizer for crops and flowers.
Nitrate of Potash is also a hair colorant allowed in China. China stipulates that it can be used for meat products.
Industrial Nitrate of Potash is also widely used in strengthening glass production process.

Storage:

Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat sources. The storage temperature does not exceed 30℃, and the relative humidity does not exceed 80%. It should be stored separately from reducing agents, acids, combustible materials, and active metal powders, and avoid mixed storage. The storage area should be equipped with suitable materials to contain the leakage.
