Description:
CAN Granules ( Calcium Ammonium Nitrate ) also known as nitro-limestone or nitrochalk, is a widely used inorganic fertilizer, and suitable for a wide variety of crops and soils. With a high nitrogen content, it provides a rapid supplement of nitrogen and comprehensive nutrients essential for plant growth and development. This product is also rich in calcium and magnesium, which aid in the absorption of nutrients by plants.
CAN Granules ( Calcium Ammonium Nitrate ) is easily deliquescent. When dissolving in water will absorb heat.
CAN Granules ( Calcium Ammonium Nitrate ) is colorless or white. It breaks down at high temperatures and explodes. It is an oxidizing agent and is flammable, intensifying the fire when it comes into contact with combustibles and reducing agents.
Applications:
1. CAN Granulaes ( Calcium Ammonium Nitrate ) is mostly used as fertilizer. The resulting fertilizer can contain up to 8% calcium and 21-27% nitrogen. It is often used in acidic soils,because it acidifies soil to a lesser degree than many common nitrogen fertilizers. It is also used in some places to replace ammonium nitrate where ammonium nitrate is prohibited.
2. Sometimes it is used as an ingredient in ice packs because it will absorb heat when dissolving in water.
3. CAN has been used to make simple explosives. However, calcium ammonium nitrate cannot be directly used for explosion, it should be converted into ammonium nitrate first.
