Description:
Calcium Nitrate Tetrahydrate Agricultural is colorless crystal. Easy deliquescence. Melting point 45℃. Soluble in water, ethanol, methanol, acetone, almost insoluble in nitric acid. Its 5% aqueous solution (measured by anhydrous matter) has a pH of 6.O. Strong oxidizing agent. Decomposition by heat, releasing oxygen. Explosive mixtures can be formed when mixed with reducing agents, organic compounds, inflammables such as sulfur, phosphorus or metal powders. When it is burned and decomposed, it releases poisonous nitrogen oxide gas. Subject to high thermal decomposition, toxic nitrogen oxides are produced.
Applications:
1. Calcium Nitrate Tetrahydrate can be used as Analytical reagent for the detection of sulfate and oxalate.
2. In industrial field: It can be used as metal surface treatment agent, pyrotechnic fuel, fire retardant and concrete additive.
3. Refrigerant: Calcium nitrate solution can be used as a working fluid for refrigeration systems
4. As fertilizer in agricultural field.
Handling and Storage
Keep in a tightly closed container, stored in a cool, dry, ventilated area. Protect against physical damage. Isolate from incompatible substances. Containers of this material may be hazardus when empty since they retain product residues (dust, solids); observe all warnings and precautions listed for the product.
